CoD 8 Announced: Yes Really
We learned today (this may surprise some of you) that Activision is to continue milking the CoD cash cow until it’s bone dry. Sledgehammer Games is currently at work on Call Of Duty 8, which is due to arrive next year and a Twitter post from a studio exec has teased the very first details of what we can expect.
Studio co-founder Glen Schofield has leaked that the next Call of Duty game will feature situations encountered by real military soldiers – or at least inspired by them. He tweeted:
“Working w/ military guys- their stories will blow you away. Names/locations will change but some situations going in the game- real stuff!”
Sledgehammer Games is headed up by ex-Visceral Games employees Schofield and Michael Condrey, who left EA’s Dead Space team to work on CoD titles for Activision.
And Schofield’s CoD-based Tweeting today referenced his past glories, too. He added:
’Picking composers 4 the game. Fun stuff, think we found a great fit. Audio will be better than what we did on Dead Space.’
A bold claim indeed.
Sledgehammer’s Call Of Duty game will be an ‘adventure FPS’ spin-off from the CoD series – and shouldn’t affect the arrival of Infinity Ward’s ‘proper’ next entry in the franchise in 2011.
Some have rumoured that the Sledgehammer’s Dead Space heritage may mean it’s tackling CoD: Space Warfare.
Treyarch is set to release Call of Duty: Black Ops in November, they recently described the game as ‘classic Call of Duty’. Which it won’t be. A no recoil, perk heavy, micro transaction enabled FPS is not classic Call of Duty. It’s classic Call of Duty Modern Warfare I/II.

guys theres nothing wrong with black ops?, i mean yeah there could be more maps, mabye less hits on core…but other than that i think its great, people say black ops is bad because maps are small, they moan about crisis because u cant find no1…thas because its big…i h8 crisis, firing range, grid, summit all good….

WTF!!! If you are going to make a COD game, then do it propperly. If not, i think its time to stop p*ssing of people with sh*tty games like CoD:WOW and CoD:Black ops.

Why treyarch.. Why!
The idea behind black ops is great.. I love the fact I can watch my mates games and record the bloopers but what really grinds my gears is the feel of the game play!
Mw1/11 had just the right feel to it…
Black ops/world at war.. Both great ideas and maps but it’s like playing doom! S**t!

Evenso I think I’ll give Black Ops a go, it looks cool, has no “uber” perks like the nuke as far as I heard and is made by Treyarch. And, hopefully, with ded. servers we can disable perks.
