iPhone 4S Performance Outstanding
If you play games on your phone, you should be slapping your name down for an iPhone 4S.
Recent benchmark tests have shown that Apple’s new phone is not just faster than the iPhone 4, but it tramples all over the competition in the performance stakes.
Tests conducted by trusted hardware site AnandTech showed the 4S outperforms the iPhone 4 by about 73 percent, and doubles the speed of the super-fast Galaxy S2 – which was previously the fastest smartphone available.
The new phone punches above its weight with performance more comparable to tablet devices. The 4S’ new 800MHz A5 CPU outstripped the significantly larger Galaxy Tab device, while its SGX 543MP2 GPU (graphics processor) rendered GLBenchmark tests twice as fast as the S2 phone and almost sat aside the powerful iPad 2 in terms of graphical clout.
“The GPU power in the 4S should be more than enough to run any well written, current generation title at well north of 30 fps on its display,” said AnandTech. Number-heavy charts, should you like to analise them, can be found through the source link below.
With the continued rise of smartphone gaming, Apple is clearly serving up hardware built to deliver powerful gaming experiences. We’re excited to see what developers can do with all that power over the next year.
iPhone 4S pre-orders topped one million in a single day, surpassing the previous single day record of 600,000 held by iPhone 4.
