Xbox Video Colour Fix Imminent
Microsoft has stated that it’s working on a fix for “colorspace” issues with some Xbox 360 video applications.
According to a recent report, last month’s launch of the new Xbox 360 dashboard reduced the quality of video playback.
The ‘Metro’ dashboard is said to force video content to run at limited range RGB levels, resulting in washed out colours, with blacks becoming grey.
The issue was flagged up by dashboard beta testers on numerous occasions prior to launch, but Microsoft’s response at the time was reportedly to delete all threads referring to it.
However, Microsoft mouthpiece Major Nelson has now acknowledged the issue via Twitter, saying: “We’re aware of the colorspace issue w/ some Xbox video apps & are working on a fix. No ETA yet but we hope to have an update soon.”
