iPhone 5 Release Date – Summer
Here’s something every Apple fanboy likes to hear – the latest on the Apple grapevine is the rumour that the company is planning a summer launch for the as-yet-unannounced iPhone 5.
9to5Mac claims to have been informed by “a reliable source at Foxconn” in China that the new smartphone is now gearing up for production.
While the site was told there are a number of sample devices and it’s not yet clear which will be the final model, each of them share some common features. These include:
• A 4+ inch display (made by LG on at least one of them)
• No teardrop-shaped devices, as rumored in the lead up to the iPhone 4S. Samples so far have been symmetrical in thickness (also longer/wider)
• Neither of the sample devices have the iPhone 4/4S form factor
• Neither of the devices are the final versions
Following the publication of record quarterly financial results earlier this week, Apple CEO Tim Cook teased iDevice fans by stating that the company has some “amazing new products in the pipeline”.
